TIFFIN– For the Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers, there’s nowhere to go but up. After a 2011 season marred by suspensions and an 0-9 record, the Clippers hope their time in the dry dock of the postseason and on the practice field will yield better results.
The record doesn’t tell the whole story, as Coach Rodney Walls’ squad was only shutout once, a 35-0 blowout at the hands of the Washington Demons. Against Benton Community, CCA had its best shot at a win, losing by only three points, 23-20 in the closest game of the season. Against rival Williamsburg, the Clippers were ahead at halftime before falling, 52-24.
Seven Clippers were lost to graduation: Dillon Villhauer, Caleb Sedlacek, Nash Stopko, Zach Boggs, Casey Rohret, Jeremy Walker and Tyler Schulte. But, 11 seniors return to the line-up: Konrad Moore, AJ Liddell, Aaron Campbell, Kam Kahler, Zach Anderson, Miguel Mosaquites, Jared Ganschow, Jake Swenka, Nick Strasser, Eli Lee and Beau Gerard. Moore is listed as quarterback and linebacker and gained valuable experience behind center last season. Liddell, Campbell, Kahler, Anderson, Ganschow and Mosaquites are listed as wide receivers and defensive backs. Swenka is shown as a wide receiver and linebacker while Strasser and Gerard are listed as offensive line and defensive line.
