Dr. Richard Wood Reid, DDS, 84, of Tipton, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services were held Sept. 19 at First United Church of Christ, Tipton, with Pastor David Lorenzen officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery in Maquoketa.
Richard Wood Reid, son of Lloyd and Florence Wood Reid, was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Maquoketa. He attended schools in Maquoketa, Delmar and Lost Nation and graduated from Farmington High School. Richard also attended the University of Iowa, taught high school and then was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years in medical units during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1958.
On Sept. 5, 1954, Richard was united in marriage to Beverly Guyer in Maquoketa. They became the proud parents of Theresa, David and Amy.
He practiced dentistry in Tipton and was engaged in community activities.
Local survivors include his son, David (Michele Reid) of Solon.
