Cyrus “Cy” Angelo Van Deusen, 56, of Marion, died on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Services were held on Nov. 4 at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Jeremy Higgins. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown.
Cy is survived by seven brothers, Jim of Shellsburg, Charles of Old Town, Fla., Larry (Ruth) of Cedar Rapids, Jerry (Vicki) of Swisher, Ray (Terri) of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Amber) of Springville, and Dan (Serena) of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Patricia (Naser) Shahrivar of Central City, Donna (Mark) Twomey of Macomb, Ill., Dawn (Dan) Griffioen-Siemering of Cedar Rapids; his stepmother Marie (Dan) Adams of Nauvoo, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
Cy was born on July 4, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Cyrus and Ellen Foubert Van Deusen. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976 and from there he went to work for AEC.
Cy was a faithful friend always willing to help when you had a problem to solve, needed an extra hand with a project, or just wanted some company with a quirky sense of humor.
