Need a little variety in your living room exercise routine? The library is adding several new DVDs that feature walking routines, perfect for indoor exercise. Please donate any exercise DVDs that you are no longer using. We will add them to the collection.
The Solon Library will forgive your outstanding fine with a donation of one nonperishable food item for every $1 in fines. This period of “Food for Fines” will run from Jan. 15 through Jan. 31. The food donations will go to our Solon food pantry. The pantry requests the following donations: canned meats, soups (not tomato), canned fruit, canned vegetables (not corn or green beans) and please, no expired items.
This “Food for Fines” program does not apply to lost materials or fines above $20 The library hopes this new program will provide a great start to the New Year, for all of us.
Babygarten helps to nurture the bond between caregiver and child, increase eye-hand coordination, and develop body awareness. This rhythmic program will enrich your child’s life from the very beginning and provide an excellent foundation for the future. Each session will feature music, board books and toys and is intended for children ages birth to 24 months.
Our next Babygarten program will run on Fridays from Feb. 7 through March 14 at 9:30 a.m. Registration opened on Dec. 30.
Brenna Gogel was the winner of the friends of the library drawing for the giant panda bear. Congratulations, Brenna (and thank you friends).
Schedules for early out days, beginning in January and running through the rest of the year, will be sent home with students once school is in session on Jan. 2. One item that we will mention, just as a heads-up: no popcorn allowed in January. We didn’t have good luck with help in cleaning up after the last couple of movies, so at least for January, please don’t bring in popcorn.
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is hosting a teen movie night on Saturday, Jan. 18, for seventh through 12th grades. The first movie, “Footloose” (2011), will start at 6 p.m. Pizza slices will be sold at intermission followed by another movie, “Secondhand Lions,” which will be done by 10 p.m.

Next early out afternoon: Jan. 9, 1 until 2:45 p.m. (Movie Day– remember, no popcorn).
Teen Movie Night: Saturday, Jan. 18, from 6 until 10 p.m. (grades seven through12).
