A funeral service celebrating Jay’s life was held Jan. 13 at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Dan Wiersema officiating. Private family burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; daughters, Laura (Brad) Klaes of North Liberty and Shelly (Robert Jr.) Thompson of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; sisters Glenda (George) Giles of Stone Mountain, Ga., Anne (Frank) Farris of Louisville, Ky., Katherine Inglis of Indianapolis, Ind.; Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jay Walton Hardymon was born March 14, 1942, in Maysville, Ky. the son of Glen and Anne (McDuffie) Hardymon. On July 2, 1972, he married Joyce K. Moore in Bethany, Okla. Jay worked as an avionics engineer at Rockwell Collins until retiring in 2004. He was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to his family, which will be distributed between the Immanuel Baptist Church, 1900 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405 and/or the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation, P.O. Box 1248, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406.
