Wayne Joseph Holub, 67, of Coggon, died peacefully, Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, following an extended illness. Funeral Mass was held March 15 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Central City. A vigil service was held March 14 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City. Survivors include his wife, Paula of Coggon; step-mother, Pat Holub of Central City; children, Matt (Wendy) Holub of Solon, Teri Holub of Palo, Kevin Hromidko of Troy Mills, and Kurtis (Danette) Hromidko of Walker; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Patty (Grant) Wilken of Marion, Suzanne (Jim) Tresnak of Hiawatha, Maynard (Diane) Holub of Cedar Rapids, Carmen (Kevin) Casey of Martelle, Tammy (Mike) Hansen of Olin, and Ben Holub of Prairieburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Holub; and sister-in-law, Marge Holub.
Wayne was born Aug. 23, 1946, in Monticello, the son of Stanley and LaVern (Schockemoehl) Holub. He graduated from Coggon High School in 1964. Wayne was united in marriage to Paula Serbousek on June 24, 1977, in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a purchasing agent and inventory supervisor. Wayne was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Coggon.
