CCA sends three to state cross country meet Oct. 27

FORT DODGE– Three cross country runners from Clear Creek Amana participated in the 2012 Iowa High School Cross Country Championships Oct. 27.
The only female running for CCA in Class 3A was Madelaine Hinsley. Hinsley finished 47th overall in the competition, with a time of 15:56.
CCA sent two men to represent them in Fort Dodge, including Ben Alcorn, who finished in 40th place with a time of 16:59.04; and Jack Murray, who finished in 108th place with a time of 18:16.74.

Just out of reach

IOWA CITY– Blame it on the full moon. Blame it on bad luck and/or lucky breaks.
It boils down to fundamentals.
The Prairie Hawks of Cedar Rapids Prairie had them down pat Monday night as they rolled onto Trojan Field for a rematch in a Class 4A second round playoff game. West defeated Prairie 58-27 in the regular season and was ranked No. 2 in the state with a 10-0 record vs. Prairie’s 7-3. Under a full moon and with the end of the season, or advancing one step closer to the UNI Dome on the line, the Prairie Hawks apparently forgot they were supposed to lose.

Food For Thought

I’ve always admired the person who can keep the keeping in housekeeping. It implies that the trick to the whole thing is in maintaining the status quo; in staying on top of things and returning everything to its proper order immediately if not sooner. I once shared a dorm room with a neatnik. It gives me shivers just to contemplate repeating the experience.

Walkin'

We made Meyersdale by mid-afternoon and rolled 11 miles to our overnight in Rockwood, Pa. While the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) is gravel, it is excellently maintained and we set our sights on covering a hundred miles in two days.
