SOLON– Solon High School now presents “Annie, The Musical!” Performance dates are Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 5-7 p.m. in the Solon Middle School Auditorium Lobby.
Gold seating is $12, silver seating is $9 and Bronze seating is $6. Checks may be made payable to Solon Drama Department.

SOLON– Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, the Solon Public Works Department started flushing fire hydrants. It is anticipated this will last two weeks. This work is necessary to ensure the proper operation of the hydrants and to draw water through the water mains at a faster than normal rate to remove any iron sediment in the pipes. During the flushing operations, you may experience fluctuations in pressure and/or discolored water. This condition is temporary and does not pose a health risk. Run your cold-water tap until it clears.

SOLON– Solon Middle School’s (SMS) annual Veterans Day Program will be held at the SMS auditorium on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. All veterans and community members are invited. The guest speaker will be Sgt. Alfred John Carr, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Solon American Legion will be in attendance and members of the Solon Middle School band will perform. Handmade cards will be made by fifth and sixth grade students for veterans in attendance. Refreshments will be served following the program, provided by the Solon Middle School PTO.

SOLON– Good help can be hard to find.
Sometimes you just have to do it yourself.
After over a year of trying to find a suitable contractor, the City of Solon is creating a new part-time janitorial position to provide services for the city hall, library and fire station.
“This has been a long process,” City Administrator Cami Rasmussen told city council members at a regular meeting Oct. 21.

What do you do when you have to replace three players who combined to score more points than any trio in the history of the Big Ten?
First, you recruit a top-20 class with point guard Tania Davis, who was named Michigan’s Miss Basketball last year.
Throw in Megan Gustafson, a 6-foot-3 center that scored more points than anyone in Wisconsin, 3,229.
Add Hannah Stewart, a 6-foot-2 center, named Miss Basketball in North Dakota, and add Tagyn Larson, a 6-foot-2 wing who was four-time all-state in South Dakota, and you have a good start.
