Hawks pull through with a win

Hawk Talk

The men had a little tougher time against Grambling State last week at Carver.

Jack hit three 3-pointers, grabbed seven rebounds, had two assists and one blocked shot. He is such a tough matchup at 6-11– shooting 50 percent from 3-point range and 56 percent from the floor.
Tyler Cook and Isaiah Moss each had 15 points.

Purdue clubs Iowa, 24-15

By Don Lund
Sports Writer
Just when you think it can’t get any worse than the 38-15 beat down against Wisconsin the week before…
Purdue is no loaf of bread, but they are not Ohio State, either.
Dropped passes, no pass protection, poor punting and the inability to cover puts the Hawkeyes at 6-5 with one game left.
It’s a sad way to send out the seniors, starting with Josey Jewell.
Josey was a three-year starter, leads the Big Ten in tackles and is the only three-year permanent captain ever under Kirk Ferentz.
Josey led the way with 13 tackles.

Don’t tell my mother

Food For Thought

Even though I’ve celebrated my 83rd birthday and am in no danger of having my mother discover I’ve broken one or more of her rules, I find I still feel pangs of guilt when I do. When we were kids, my big sister could blackmail me into almost anything by threatening to tell Mother I may have committed one or more misdemeanors. Whether I had or not, just the threat that Mother might be inclined to suspect or to investigate any such accusations was enough to make me knuckle under to my sister’s pressure.
