Hawkeye women continue to roll

Hawk Talk

For the third straight game, the Hawkeye women came out strong and finished off the Wisconsin Badgers, 88-61.
It was 23-13 at the end of the first quarter, 45-23 at half and Iowa never looked back.
“I was really happy,” said head coach Lisa Bluder. “We led this game for 39 minutes, it was tied for one minute. I told the team ‘you guys came out and dominated.’ When you dominate a Big Ten opponent at the end of the year that’s a really good thing.”
Balanced scoring and Megan Gustafson being Megan with 25 points in 26 minutes.

Tales from the endless buffet

Walkin'

By the time you read this we’ll be in the land of the endless buffet, also called The Reef, an all-inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We’ve been to our southern neighbor, one of the few places in the world where the citizens don’t hate Americans, many times and have had many adventures, including:

Easter, a movable feast

Food For Thought

When, as a young teenager, I noticed my birthday was on the same DATE every year, but not on the same DAY of the week, I began to wonder about the date of Easter. Easter was always on a Sunday, I knew, but sometimes it occurred before my birthday, and sometimes after. Sometimes Easter was in the month of March, sometimes not until fairly late in April. I couldn’t find any other holiday that couldn’t seem to make up its mind as to which month it belonged in. How were we supposed to plan for it when there seemed so little consistency about when it would arrive?
