Liberty girls have little trouble corralling the Mustangs
CORALVILLE– Liberty High’s varsity girls soccer team put its first home win in the books Tuesday, April 24, after defeating the Independence Mustangs, 4-1, on the home field at the Coralville Youth Sports Complex.
Sydni Von Sprecken scored early in the first half. The Mustangs tied the match, 1-1, with a penalty kick (PK), but the rest of the contest belonged to Liberty. Megan Davis and Madi Barta ended the first half with a 3-1 lead. Elise Hermiston fired a PK past the Mustangs’ keeper in the second half to seal the win.
Both teams ended the day with a 2-4 record.
