TIFFIN– Clear Creek Amana (CCA) High School recognized 16 seniors (five varsity girls and 11 varsity boys) Friday, Feb. 12, during a girl-boy varsity doubleheader against West Delaware Friday, Feb. 12, and celebrated a 46-39 win for the girls, and an 85-66 win for the boys.

IOWA CITY– A North Liberty man was charged with first-degree robbery after a November incident in Iowa City.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Iowa City Police Department, Ernest Allen, 35, of North Liberty, sought a ride from a victim and, upon arrival at the destination, asked for $10 in cash. When the victim retrieved his wallet, the complaint noted, he felt/saw a handgun pressed to his hip while the defendant stated, “You know what this is.” Allen stands accused of taking the victim’s money, then warning the victim not to follow.
First-degree robbery is a Class B felony.

IOWA CITY– The GuideLink Center, also known as the Access Center of Johnson County, started accepting patients with an acute mental health or substance abuse crisis on Monday, Feb. 15, as part of a gradual “soft opening.”
The facility, located at 300 Southgate Ave. in Iowa City, has been a goal through roughly a decade of discussion in Johnson County. Momentum was gained in 2015 when then Jail Alternatives Coordinator Jessica Peckover started a crusade for a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) made up of law enforcement officers, starting with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

MARION The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity girls picked up a fourth consecutive win to improve to 13-3 overall (12-2 in the WaMaC West) with a 51-42 win over WaMaC East team Marion on Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the Indians hunting ground.
Both teams entered the contest unranked after recently falling out of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Unions weekly rankings.

WILLIAMSBURG– Liberty High’s varsity girls traveled to Williamsburg for a non-conference game against the Raiders Saturday, Feb. 6, and picked up their third win of the season, 51-40.
Keiko Ono-Fullard, a sophomore, led the Lightning with 13 points including a pair of three-point baskets. Fellow soph Kennedy Daugherty dominated on the boards with a dozen rebounds.
The win improved Liberty to 3-9 overall while sitting at 2-7 in the Mississippi Valley Conference-Mississippi Division. Williamsburg dipped to 8-10 overall and sat at 7-8 in the WaMaC West.
