IOWA CITY– A North Liberty man was charged with first-degree robbery after a November incident in Iowa City.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Iowa City Police Department, Ernest Allen, 35, of North Liberty, sought a ride from a victim and, upon arrival at the destination, asked for $10 in cash. When the victim retrieved his wallet, the complaint noted, he felt/saw a handgun pressed to his hip while the defendant stated, “You know what this is.” Allen stands accused of taking the victim’s money, then warning the victim not to follow.
First-degree robbery is a Class B felony.
