Proposed utilities rate increases to take effect July 1

The North Liberty City Council will likely vote to implement a five-percent increase to water and sewer rates at its June 28 meeting.

What do I pay now?
Dependent on your household size, you could be spending anywhere from $25-$100 per month on water alone. The current base rate (first 1,000 gallons) for water is $14.12 and $27.24 for sewer. The proposed increase is $14.83 for water and $28.60 for sewer.

Is five percent a lot?
Yearly increases to utilities rates are not uncommon. Last year, there was a similar increase to water rates and a seven percent increase to sewer rates. Rates are expected to level off starting in FY18.

How much more can I expect to pay?
