NLPD: Credit and debit card information compromised

NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty Police Department (NLPD) has received reports of potential credit card and debit card fraud and is investigating the possibility that a “skimmer” has been placed at an area business. A skimmer is used to steal card information and is generally placed in ATMs and fuel pumps.
The NLPD is asking credit and debit card users to check their accounts immediately. If you have any suspicious activity on your account, contact your bank or credit card company immediately. If you are a victim of credit card fraud, immediately contact your local law enforcement agency.

NORTH LIBERTY– After nearly two months without an official mayor, North Liberty finally has a new civic leader, although it’s also down one city council member.
After a contentious discussion at a regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 28, the North Liberty City Council voted, 3-2, to appoint council member and Mayor pro tem Terry Donahue as mayor. Council member Chris Hoffman’s name was also up for consideration. A third individual applied but was ineligible due to a residing address outside city limits.

Craptacular (adjective): Remarkably poor or disappointing. Drunk text (noun): A text message sent while drunk, typically one that is embarrassing or foolish.

Food For Thought

Most of the times my telephone rings, it turns out to be someone telling me they are returning a call, at my request, for information about a back brace. Well, I know I made no such request so I simply hang up on them. Often it is a cheerful woman from a credit card company telling me there is no problem with my account, I thank her politely and hang up. In the past, she has managed to slip in the information that this is my final opportunity to take advantage of an offer to lower my interest rate.
