North Liberty Leader
IOWA CITY– “Tradition Never Graduates.” That phrase is seen multiple times in the 2014 Media Guide for the West High Women of Troy track and field program. Thumbing through the 20-plus page publication, one quickly sees why.
AMES– A day after the Mississippi Valley Conference indoor meet at the UNI-Dome, Iowa City West High sent a detachment of Trojans to Iowa State University for the 21st annual Iowa State High School Indoor Classic. The Tuesday, March 18, invitational meet drew teams from across Iowa.
NORTH LIBERTY– The City of North Liberty will add a new role, and a new employee to carry it out, if a proposed housing ordinance passes its next two readings by the City Council.
The ordinance is specific to rental units and the obligations of landlords and tenants. State law requires towns with populations of 15,000 or greater to adopt an ordinance to ensure regular inspections of rental housing and a process for dealing with complaints.
TIFFIN– When Jami Tandy was diagnosed with breast cancer, she immediately received loads of support.
Her co-workers at South Slope Cooperative Communications and many friends began wearing Team Tandy buttons, complete with the requisite pink ribbon. Calls and cards and expressions of concern came pouring in. Prayers were said on her behalf.
But a completely unexpected show of solidarity came from Jami’s son and his basketball team, when they bounded onto the court sporting shaved heads and bright pink socks.
