‘Scapino’ hits Mount Mercy stage Nov. 12
CEDAR RAPIDS– Mount Mercy University will present “Scapino,” a comedy by Frank Dunlop and Jim Dale, from Nov. 10–12 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the McAuley Theater.
Cast members include Danny Wayson, a freshman from North Liberty, who plays the role of Carlo.
Full of antics and mischief, the play, a liberal adaptation of Moliere’s ‘’Les Fourberies de Scapin,’’ follows the love escapades of two young men in their quest for marriage to two young ladies as they volley against parental opposition – their fathers. In their desperation, the men plead their case to Scapino, a quick-witted, fast talking trickster, to help them out of their dilemma.
The play is directed by Mount Mercy Associate Professor of Speech/Drama Kathi Pudzuvelis. Tickets are $8 for the general public and $6 for students and senior citizens. Group rates are available. The McAuley Theater is located on the terrace level of McAuley Hall on the Mount Mercy University campus. For information call 319-363-8213, ext. 1229.
