All-star/alumni game June 8 to raise funds for basketball program
SOLON– The Solon high school boys’ basketball program with hold an all-star/alumni game fundraising event on June 8 at 7 p.m. at the Solon High School gymnasium. Requested donation is $5. All proceeds will go toward the boys’ basketball program.
Event participants include Mike Henderson: Iowa’s Gatorade Player of the Year, (University of Iowa 2002-2004); Adam Haluska: (University of Iowa 2004-2007), Luke Recker: (University of Iowa 2000-2002; Miami Heat 2002); Kenyon Murray (1992 Michigan Mr. Basketball, Murray played professionally in CBA, IBL, Swedish Premier League and the USBL); Dedric Ward (University of Northern Iowa, third round pick in the 1997 NFL draft, winning a Super Bowl ring, and finishing an eight-year career in 2004. Coached for Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs); Dusty Wadlington (Junior College All-American at Iowa Lakes Community College, played at the University of Denver); Matt Lesan (Solon all-time leading scorer, Upper Iowa Peacock eighth leading scoring in history, played semi-professionally in the ABA league for the Chicago Steam); Willie Guy (Tennessee’s “Mr. Football” in 1989, Iowa Hawkeye football wide receiver 1992-1995). Joe Weeks (Solon alum, current Kirkwood Community College player); Carl Gonder (All-American at George Washington H.S., played professionally in Australia); Tucker Wentzien (Solon alum, played at Upper Iowa University; and Turner Wentzien (Solon alum, currently playing at Upper Iowa University).
