Catherine H. Campion passed away in Loveland, Colo., just seven days before her 92nd birthday. A resident of Colorado since 1976, Catherine’s life was focused on her family, faith, and friends. Always appreciative, her positive attitude and strong faith buoyed her through many years of arthritic pain and hip surgeries.
Born in Iowa on July 14, 1919, to George and Julia (Fuhrmeister) Krall, Catherine attended Business College and worked at the US Department of Agriculture for five years before marrying Bernard J. Campion on April 14, 1942. They farmed near Iowa City for nearly 35 years before retiring to Colorado and Mesa, Arizona.
Catherine is locally survived by her brother, Russ Krall and his wife Dolores, Estes Park, Colo., and by three sisters-in-law, Monie Krall of Solon, Dorothy Shay of Iowa City, and Alice Miller of Central Point, Oregon. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, in May 2000, her son Russ in October 2009, her brother Harold Krall in 2003 and sister Lena Anderlik in 2007.
A Rosary to celebrate her life was held July 14 and a Memorial Mass will be held August 15, both at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, Estes Park. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church for friends and family in Iowa City at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for scholarship funds at Kirkwood Community College Foundation in Cedar Rapids, or Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of the Mountains in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 1302 Graves Ave., Estes Park, CO 80517. See www.allnutt.com to send a messa
