Dorian Vocal Festival

Congratulations to Ashley Holubar, Hillary Kaefring, Robbie Jedlicka and Kyle Stewart who have been selected to participate in Luther College’s 62nd annual Dorian Vocal Festival to be held Sunday, Jan. 9 and Monday, Jan. 10, 2012, in the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther College campus in Decorah. Attending the Vocal Festival will be 1,400 high school singers from eight states, representing over 350 high schools. The Dorian Vocal Festival is claimed to be the largest high school honor choir in the world. Allen Hightower, conductor of the Nordic Choir, will conduct the festival.

HS jazz dinner concert 
Tickets are going on sale for the Solon High School jazz dinner concert to be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at St Mary’s Church in Solon. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner being served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $17 and must be purchased in advance. Admission includes a catered dinner by Ruzicka’s Catering of Solon and a live jazz concert featuring the four Solon Jazz Choirs: “Premier”, “Mainstream”, “Blame It On Our Youth” and “Fifth Street Jazz”. Individual members will also be performing throughout the night along with live solo jazz music during the dinner portion of the event. Tickets are limited so plan to order early. ISU honor choir
Congratulations to Hillary Kaefring, Ryan Kunkel, Wyatt Rath, Jacob Metzler, Holly Koffron and Kyle Stewart who were selected by live audition to participate in the Iowa State University Honor Choir on Sunday, Feb. 12, and Monday, Feb. 13. The concert will be held in the ISU Music Building Recital Hall on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.

Third grade vocal concert
The third graders have been working hard to prepare a concert showing their ability to sing, read and play the notes in a round. Please join us on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 6:30 p.m., in the middle school auditorium to hear their hard work performed. Students have been practicing beginning harmony with their voices and instruments. They will be singing and playing several instruments.

Fourth grade vocal concert
A frenzy of fourth graders will be performing their final elementary concert. Students will be performing their funny songs on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 7:30 p.m., in the middle school auditorium. The frenzy of repertoire will include lots of movement and an assortment of instruments. Please join us as the fourth graders perform their last concert as Lakeview students.
