Dr. Lance Wessling
Dr. Lance E. Wessling, 66 of Clinton, Illinois left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on May 23, 2014, with his loving wife, the Rev. Dr. Roxanne Miller-Wessling, at his side.
Lance was born July 30, 1947, in Des Moines. Lance was the second son of Morris and Corrine Schemerhorn-Wessling. He has three brothers: Rex Wessling of Seattle, Washington, Brice Wessling (deceased) and Kriss Wessling of Mammoth, Falls, Oregon, and one sister: Helen Kelton of Green Valley, Missouri.
Lance graduated from Selbina High School in 1965. He then attended Kirksville College where he got a bachelors of science and then went on to Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery. Upon graduation he got his license and practiced for 20 years. In those 20 years Dr. Wessling delivered over 800 babies, which he said was the highlight of his career. Lance then went back to school and got a degree in dermatology. Dr. Wessling practiced dermatology for 16 years before retiring due to cancer.
Dr. Wessling also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Dr. Wessling married Roxanne (Rox) on March 29, 2012. They resided in Clinton, Illinois, with one daughter.
Lance leaves behind four daughters: Chrissy Roberts of Washington, Angie Shelangaski of Solon, Maria Sinclair of Clinton, Illinois and Christina Sinclair of Clinton; two sons: Charles Wessling of Cedar Rapids and AJ Wessling of Iowa City; and nine grandchildren.
Dr. Wessling was preceded in death by his father Morris Wessling and brother Bryce Wessling.
Services were held May 31 the First United Methodist Church in Plymouth, with the Rev. Beverly Butler officiating. Dr. Wessling will be laid to rest at the Bohemian Cemetery, Plymouth, with military honors.
