Family Day at Iowa Raptor Project Saturday, Nov. 5

SOLON– The Iowa Raptor Project invites the public to the November Family Day featuring the Peregrine Falcon, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
Visitors will learn about the history of falconry and hunting with the Peregrine Falcon. The Raptor’s Nest will be open with arts and crafts and activities for kids. There will be staff and volunteers available to answer any questions.
The Raptor Center currently displays over 20 unreleasable birds of prey historically found in Iowa and is located within the Macbride Nature Recreation Area, 2095 Mehaffey Bridge Rd. NE, Solon.
The Iowa Raptor Project is devoted to the preservation of Iowa’s birds of prey and their natural habitats. It is a jointly sponsored program of University of Iowa Recreational Services and Kirkwood Community College. The Iowa Raptor Project preserves Iowa’s raptor populations and habitats through educational experiences that awaken awareness, nurture appreciation and inspire action, as well as through field research on raptor nesting habitats, migration routes and wintering grounds.
