June L. O’Brien, 96, of Iowa City, formerly of the Cosgrove area, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at the Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery (old section) in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center or Iowa City Hospice.

June L. Olson was born June 27, 1915, in Tipton, the daughter of Oscar and Mary Ann (McCune) Olson. She was united in marriage to William P. O’Brien on Jan. 4, 1933, in Iowa City. The couple farmed for many years in the Cosgrove area, until moving into Iowa City in 1975. June was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City.
Local survivors include Joe O’Brien (Brenda Miller) of Solon and a brother, Roy Olson (Marie) of Oxford.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three daughters, Audrey, Barbara, and Eleanor; son, Darrell; sister, Valta Donham; and a son-in-law, Frank Palmer.
