Medin Family Dental hangs shingle
SOLON– Solon dentist Kristine Medin hasn’t decided where to hang the sign for her new office in Solon. She’s now taking appointments and practicing dentistry after starting over in the former dentist office on the corner.
The spot has been through some changes over the years, having been a gas station and a bakery. Medin, a University of Iowa dental school graduate, was glad to take over a former dentist office, but said she rebuilt it to bring it up to date.
“I met Dr. Crossley and was going to work with him (before he died),” she said.
Now Medin has her own practice to add to one already going in Cedar Rapids. She’ll see patients in Solon on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings.
After studying in Iowa City, Medin had a year-long residency in Ohio, then practiced nine years in Cedar Falls, another four in Boulder, Colo., and, most recently, came back to Cedar Rapids, where she’s practiced for six years. She said she moved back to Iowa to raise her children and be closer to family.
She was proud of having kept the building intact but it underwent an overhaul. It has a new look, with a comfortable waiting area and convenient parking.
She also talked about adding another dentist to make the Solon office a full-time clinic.
Medin Family Dental officially opened Friday, Dec. 16.
