NLPD to offer disposal for unused prescription drugs
NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency, will collect expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Liberty Pharmacy, 555 W. Cherry St., for safe disposal.
This service is free and anonymous. Tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage forms will be collected. Liquid medications in their original containers will be accepted.
In addition to the scheduled drop-off, unwanted medications will be accepted for disposal until Oct. 28 at the North Liberty Police Department’s headquarters, 25 E. Cherry St., during its regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
The effort is part of the annual National Prescription Drug “Take-Back” Day, organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
