Nov. 11 veterans dinner now open to public
NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will host a Veterans Day dinner Monday, Nov. 11, at the South Slope Telecommunications Center on Mehaffey Bridge Rd. in North Liberty beginning at 6 p.m.
Register today, as a large crowd is anticipated to hear guest speaker Mike Chapman, publisher of the Iowa History Journal. Chapman will speak about “Fred Becker and Nile Kinnick, Warrior Athletes.” Chapman is an author, veteran, former athlete and a personal friend of the Brands brothers of Iowa wrestling fame, and other University of Iowa coaches, including Kirk Ferentz, who have used or plan to use Chapman’s presentations to motivate their athletes.
The dinner is complimentary to veterans and one guest each; the public is invited to take advantage of the opportunity to hear Chapman, enjoy a meal of baked chicken and homemade noodles and desserts, and spend time honoring our local veterans for $8 per plate.
In addition to the guest speaker, the evening includes traditional Veterans Day ceremonies, music, video presentations, door prize drawings and time to visit with fellow veterans and speak with Mr. Chapman.
