Robert Emil Jandik, 92 of Swisher, died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Westridge Care Center. Celebration of life services were held Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Robert was born Oct. 26, 1921, on his parents’ farm in Johnson County south of Walford, the son of Frank A. and Bessie (Cuhel) Jandik. He married Frances Marie Divishek on Dec. 3, 1947, at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids. Bob and Frances farmed for many years in the Walford and Swisher area. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, going to the Senior Center, his daily coffee trip and spending time with his family, especially his great-granddaughter Tessa.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Sharon Kay (Mike) Brown of Swisher; two grandchildren Loren (Lisa) Brown and Christopher Brown all of Swisher; one great-granddaughter Tessa Brown; and his brother Elmer F. (Janice) Jandik of Cedar Rapids; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Frances, who died Sept. 7, 2003, and his sister Dorothy (Roe) Kirkpatrick.
Memorials may be directed to the family or to the Swisher Fire Department in his name.
