St. John Lutheran Church Polka Festival Aug. 17
ELY– The St. John Lutheran Annual Community Polka Festival will be held Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Ely American Legion Hall, 1545 Main St., Ely.
The event will begin with a Polka Service of worship at 10 a.m. at the legion hall led by sponsoring church, St. John Lutheran, ELCA of Ely. It will be followed by a meal from 11a.m.-1 p.m. A dance and activities for children will follow until 2 p.m. This is a traditional Oktoberfest, the meal including bratwurst, sauerkraut and hot German potato salad. There are the more American options of hot dogs, baked beans and chips as well. There is a recommended donation of $8 for the entire event, including meal and entertainment. Tickets will be purchased at the door. Music will be provided by the Mount Vernon-based, nationally touring polka band Barefoot Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen.
