Larry E. Prull, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died of cancer Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Services were held Friday, Feb. 13, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with military rites. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Feb. 12 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; a daughter, Penny Prull of North Liberty; a son, Brian (Cynthia) of Calif.; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) of Anamosa and Ralph (Katie) of Visalia, Calif.; and two sisters, Maryjo Nagel of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Lorna (Ray) Ellis of Manchester.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Tia and Tamara Watson; two great-grandchildren, Talan and Tristan Watson; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend and dog, Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Betty.
Larry was born Jan. 24, 1948, in Anamosa, the son of William and Ida Ketelsen Prull. He married Sandy M. Collins on March 9, 1968 in Mount Vernon. Larry was a heavy equipment mechanic for Gee Grading and Excavation for 32 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of IBEW Local 234 and proudly served in the Army in Vietnam. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, watering Sandy’s flowers and time spent with his neighbors and family.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in Larry’s name.
Military rites were performed by American Legion Hanford Post 5.
