With school starting again, there are lots of kids coming to the library after school, especially on the early out days. Just as a reminder to parents, the policy is being printed again at the beginning of this school year. If the students are attending a library program, the time restrictions do not count, but once the program is over, the policy is enforced.
The library has adopted the following guidelines for young patrons wishing to spend time in the library without the accompaniment of their parent or guardian.
• Children between 10 and 13 years may be unattended in the library for no more than 2 hours.
• Children under the age of 10 may not be left unattended at any time. If another child is acting as the babysitter, that child must be at least 11 years old and will be responsible for the younger child(ren).
The library cannot assume responsibility for children left unattended on the library premises.
Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated from any age.
