NORTH LIBERTY– A North Liberty man was arrested and charged with eight separate complaints stemming from a domestic assault incident.
On August 21 around 10:30 p.m., North Liberty police officers were dispatched to 12 Holiday Lodge Road on a domestic assault call made by a neighbor. According to police reports, the officers discovered that the victim had been beaten by the suspect and was held against her will for around 17 hours, though she had allegedly had attempted to escape several times. The suspect had fled the scene by the time the officers arrived, and was later identified as 43-year-old Kenneth Lee Clark of 12 Holiday Lodge Road, North Liberty, IA.
Clark was located hitchhiking on Highway 965 and taken into custody. He was charged with endangerment, giving false information to law enforcement, domestic abuse assault with intent, willful injury (causing serious injury), false imprisonment, obstruction of prosecution, child endangerment/ no injury, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The victim, reportedly the mother of Clark’s two children, was transported to a local hospital. At this time, no further information is being released on her condition. The children, a four-year-old and seven-year-old, were turned over to the Department of Human Services. This incident is still under investigation by the North Liberty Police Department.
