January is the kick-off for the second annual Calf Classic sponsored by the Solon Library Foundation. The Calf Classic Project pairs sponsors and artists to create a uniquely decorated fiberglass calf sculpture. Decorated calves are entered in the Beef Days Parade and are auctioned to the highest bidder at the conclusion of the Beef Days celebration.
Beginning this month, the committee will be seeking sponsors, which requires a $250 entry fee. Artists interested in designing a calf may obtain an entry form to be submitted with a completed color design proposal. Complete details, including the artist packet, sculpture dimensions and deadlines are available on the library website, www.solon.lib.ia.us or by calling Sandy @ 624-2710.
The sponsors and artists will be included in the continuing publicity campaign to raise awareness of the Solon Public Library Foundation, the 41st Annual Beef Days event and the City of Solon.
Don’t delay if you or your organization is interested in sponsorship. The classic will be limited to four sculptures. Proceeds support library programs initiated by the Solon Library Foundation.
