VINTON— The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) wrestlers picked up one more dual meet win as they faced Vinton-Shellsburg and Benton Community on Thursday, Jan. 19. The Clippers scuttled Vinton-Shellsburg 40-27, but were keelhauled by the Bobcats of Benton Community 49-25.
Against the Vikings, Dalton Beckler took a 10-2 major decision from Austin Heims in the 138 pound match and Sebastian Calderon pinned Brandan Geiger in 26 seconds at 152 pounds. Vinton-Shellsburg forfeited matches at 106, 113, 195, 220 and 285. Carter Carew was on the wrong end of a 7-4 decision at 120 pounds, Nate Langrehr fell in 3:47 for the 126 bout and David Calderon fell in 5:20 in the 132 pound match-up. In 145 pound action, Trever Walls fell in 1:01 while Sam Andrews was pinned in 22 seconds at 160.
Carew took a 12-6 decision from Benton Community’s Dylan Beaver, Langrehr pinned Jake Robertson in 4:42 and Calderon picked up a 14-4 major decision over Josh Cassill at 120, 126 and 152 pounds respectively. In 195 pound action Casey Rohret pinned Benton’s Isaac Hopkins in 3:05. Rohret was a nominee this week for KCRG TV-9’s “Athlete of the Week.”
Connor Murphy fell in 1:14 at 106 pounds, Colton Beckler lost a 7-3 decision at 113 pounds and Calderon fell in 3:30 for the 132 pound match. Dalton Beckler lost a 13-0 major decision in the 138 pound bout while Walls fell in 1:27.
